Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis For A Male Child

Sex determination is a crime in India. Morally speaking it should be a crime everywhere. However, that is not the case. In Thailand, however, it is not. You can decide the sex of your child and the rules of the land will not say a word against you.
In India still, the inclination towards the baby boy is strong. The so-called people from the high society still prefer boys over girls. Such families still go for sex-determination illegally, which is an open secret. However, still others have found a way out – travelling all the way to Thailand. It’s not

illegal to travel to Thailand and not illegal to determine the sex of your child.
So in India, this new trend is on the rise now. The people in India want to make heirs to their property. Thailand is proving to be green pasture for such couples. Even Bangkok has reported that the enquiries from India are continuously on the rise.

Isn’t this a red signal when we will see only boys and no girls?
What is PGD after all?
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (also known as the PGD) engages in the genetic investigation of the early stage embryos that have been produced through the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The In-Vitro Fertilization can be used to determine the gender of a baby. Through IVF, egg cells are fertilized by sperm outside the body. The embryos created are after that cultured, in the lab for a period of around three days.
After a period of three days, they will have developed in the region of eight cells. From among these cells around two or three are removed for testing which is done under a powerful microscope. The gender can be identified by this technique. After the gender is known, then the embryos of the desired gender are then planted into the womb.
