The two biggies of the Indian cricket - Sachin Tendulkar and M S Dhoni, will clash in the opening game of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The stage is set for an explosive 54 days of non-stop cricket. Temperatures are sure to rise in the already hot summer season that has just set in, in India.
The CSK will be keen to prove why they are the undisputed champions of the IPL. They have a strong batting line up in the form of Vijay, Badrinath, Suresh Raina, Morkel and Dhoni himself. Ravindra Jadeja – who has thehighest amount in the auction and who is an able all-rounder will also try to prove why he has been bid for such a high amount.
There will be a lot of moral pressure on M S Dhoni. He needs to prove that his team is the best in the competition. He has done that in the past. However, his personal form is a bit of a concern. He has to score some big runs. That will give a huge boost to his self-confidence. The more time he spends in the middle, the better for him.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians is also full of strength. With new captain Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar will have a lot of freedom to play his strokes. He is no more bothered by the responsibilities of the captaincy. That should give him a free hand to play. In such situations, Tendulkar can be more destructive than before.
The feeling of making one hundred international hundreds will certainly have a positive impact on his batting. Batsmen like Richard Levi and Kirrone Pollard can swing the match in a matter of overs. So no side is short of strength and is raring to go. It is a must-watch game.
